There's a section of land near the Mercer gin where railroad tracks used to be. The tracks may be long gone, but some say
paranormal remnants of a horrible tragedy that occurred there still linger at the location to this day. Years ago, there was
a young boy named Toby who liked to walk along the tracks with his lantern. One day, he was hit by a train while walking on
the tracks. I've heard 2 versions as to why: 1.) he was deaf & didn't hear the train coming; or 2.) he heard it, but his
foot got caught in the tracks. You're supposed to park your car near where the tragedy happened, turn the vehicle off, and
flash your lights & tap your horn 3 times each, and you will see the ghostly light of his lantern drifting down where
the tracks used to be. I've never done this because I haven't been able to figure out exactly where this spot is. However,
I've talked to several people who've gone out there and swear they witnessed the light.
