Old Trinity Church

Unlike Bethel Assembly of God in Atoka (where only the surrounding cemetery is purported to be haunted, not the building itself), the entire grounds on which this 150+ year old church is located are crawling with spirits--some bad. The church and graves have been vandalized and desecrated by Satanic cults, who once performed rituals and sacrifices there. The statue of the Virgin Mary behind the church is said to cry blood from its eyes. There are dried, dark red stains streaming from the statue's eyes; I've seen them myself.

I went one night with a group, and some of the people swear they saw apparitions inside the church. On a recent "ghost hunt" there, we went inside and, when we walked out, we left the doors open (I'll add that there was no stick wedged in the front doors on this particular visit--you'll understand this in a minute). We walked around the cemetery for about 15 minutes, and the doors stayed open the entire time. We decided to leave, and on the way back to the car, we looked back and the doors were still open. But once we got in the car, the doors had shut. There was no wind, and no one with us could have possibly shut those doors because everyone was in my line of vision on the way to the car. Freaky huh?

There's a stick wedged in the front doors to hold them together, and it's said that if someone pulls the stick out and doesn't put it back before he/she leaves, that person will die exactly 2 weeks later. A few years ago, a teenage boy from Tipton county was killed in a car accident about 200 yards down the road from the church. Everyone who's ever told me this story said that he had pulled the stick out of the Old Trinity doors exactly 2 weeks before the night he died and didn't put it back. Is this just a rumor? A coincidence, perhaps? I don't know, but you can bet I'm sure as hell not testing this legend to find out.
